We have tried just about every type of dust collection over the past 35 years. The trend now is blue tooth or RF built into the tool and a receiver in the dust collector. The problem with that is the collector cycles on and off every time tool is engaged. We use high velocity hepa vacuums with sawdust cyclones that capture 99% of the sawdust before it reaches the vacuum. We use dust bags in combination with hepa filters so the filters will not loose their efficiency by getting clogged. We combine this with custom-built electronics and relays that open valved blast gates and delay the start of the vacuum for 5 seconds while that gate opens. An RF remote is placed next to each tool on the circuit that way you can leave the extractor on while you make multiple cuts or sand multiple pieces. We use 3D printed dust fittings with magnets on all of your tools and dust hoses. We have found that every make of tool and every different brand of dust hose are all different sizes. With 3D printing we can dial in the size to the millimeter.

Yes, we build sound-proof boxes with baffled venting. The loudest tool that is on for the longest is generally your hepa vacuum, so we surround it with a dense walled box to block the noise and vent the exhaust out with a dust hose to another location in the shop. It is also important to note that battery powered tools with brush-less motors are quieter that their 110 volt counterparts. We use battery powered sliding miter saws, which are much quieter that the 110 volt versions. Routers are another noisy tool so we use router tables with the router enclosed in a sound-deadened box with built-in dust evacuation to solve that problem. Cabinet table saws are much quieter than contractor table saws and depending on your cutting needs, a mini hobby table saw is whisper quiet, Circular saw blades can also affect noise. By using a thin kerf Diablo or CMT blade, you can reduce the noise when sawing material.

We use led lighting at multiple angles to reduce shadows, dark spots, glare and eye strain. Color temperature also comes into play when defining a space visually, so we use temperature selectable fixtures so we can dial in the correct balance.

We use LED lighting exclusively. It seems that every manufacturer that rates their color temperature is off just enough to make lighting design very difficult. That is why we use lights that are temperature selectable. Some creators thrive in a very cool light in the 6000k range others prefer the warmness of the a 3000k light and others are in the middle with a 4500k-5000k daylight light.
